Waxing Nostalgic

For some reason, I started remembering how much fun I used to have with my Rubik’s Cube back in high school (yes, I still have an original), and how frustrated I got at never being able to solve Rubik’s Revenge.

So I started searching around on the web… who knew that they’re celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Rubik’s Cube with a World Championship Tournament?

My original, 25-year-old Cube is way too fragile for me to play with anymore, not like I did back then (personal best solution time: 27 seconds. Average time: 32 seconds). I might still have my original Revenge cube, but I’m about 85% sure I got rid of it.

So I’m thinking I may make a trip to a Toys R Us real soon to get myself a new Cube, and I wouldn’t even have to look up any solution strategies on the web for it… I still remember all the tricks and patterns. But I would consider doing that for the Revenge cube… I never could get more than two sides solved on that beast.
