I've off-and-on dreamed of having the conviction to keep with an idea like that...

(if I can)... one idea I heard that was passed on from Jerry Seinfeld (that you may have heard, but just in case you haven't). Keep a big calendar where you can see it and mark off each day of work with a big black marker... shortly you will have a string of marked off days and it will give you extra incentive to not break the chain.

I've not started any tasks that need consecutive days, but plan to try it if I do :-)
